I wouldn't bother with the copy carb. It could be worse that a duff original. I bet you could probable get a second hand original for Ł25. If you can't find one I can point you in the right direction.

Every likelihood is the black pilot jet under the tick over adjuster screw will be blocked. Remove the tick over screw and with long nose pliers prise out the jet. Spray with good carb cleaner and blow through with an air line and it should be fine.

That said if it is blocked there is a chance there could be dirt in the rest of the carb. Take it to bits and spray everywhere you see a hole and reassemble.
