Yeah if you live in Essex you're kinda short of options..

And it shows two problems we have as owner driver karters who just want to get out and enjoy a bit of track time.

So many tracks generate business from Corporate Arrive'n Drive. We understand the need to make money but as owner drivers we should be considered 1st. After all the industry wouldn't exist if we hadn't ploughed so much money into the sport over the years. It makes me angry to be honest when i look at the options. My racing stopped because the MSA changed the rules, the clubs stopped supporting the class. I didn't suddenly decide not to keep the numbers and not to race and practise. Been doing this 20 plus years and still would if i could just dust off the karts and engines and go play.

Buckmore - always cater for their Corporate Business, some months have an extra owner driver day mid week.

Rye House - was always a owner driver circuit but they do the same now, never any practise available when you want it and then they interrupt your day with corporate business after charging you 40 quid.

Bayford - 1 hour away but £50 for non members is a little steep, availability is limited again because of Corporate hire.

Blackbushe - 1hr 20 mins approx - 1 practise day a month and has always been this way due to local noise objections and the the fact this Land is owned by the MOD or the Airport or something.

Lydd - 1hr 45 mins drive - Great track, availability good but could be better. Again gearing itself too much for Arrive'n Drive.

Ellough Park/Beccles - 2 hrs plus - horrible drive up the A12 & A140 - Look at the Website and you'll see nothing but Arrive'n Drive.

Forest Edge - 1 hr 40 mins approx - Not been to the new circuit but the website shows one practise day per month on race weekend.

Red Lodge - Just past Newmarket approx 1hr 20 mins - fun little track but again availability could be better as they cater for Arrive'n Drive.

Kimbolton - 30 mins further up the M11 past Red Lodge - Practically no running allowed due to noise and land ownership - been this way for years so you get your one practise and race per month.

PF & Fulbeck - 2 hr 30m drive.
Shennington & Rissington the same. Same problems at these tracks too, noise, ownership, traffic and local disruption to villages etc

It's been the same for years and we can only blame ourselves for not getting together as a driver group and doing something about it.

Over the years we've lost Nuthampstead, Tilbury, the Original Forest Edge and Surbiton, (Corporate only now) all because of housing, traffic, noise etc ..Not to mention the number of times racing has been stopped and started again at Fulbeck.

All i want is a clean safe 1000 meters of tarmac available at the weekend from 9 to 5 within 45 mins of my front door and moving isn't an option right now.
