If you want a new engine I would go for it now. It takes 30 to 40 hours to know if they are going to be any good & how good they will be, also it lets them loosen-up as they start hitting their prime around that time.. Speak to the engine provider & buy a well-rated standard engine & look after it. Where I race the prokart championship leader is on T1’s, in fact there are 2 T1 engined prokarts in the top 4. This idea that parts will become scarce for T1’s is rubbish, this just devalues the T1’s even more. I rebuild engines all the time & can get all parts for the old GX vertical cylinder engines & they are very old now.
