That will simply be pulled through as soon as you put pressure on the peddle.

What I have used for years has been a cut down throttle adjuster like this one from Wizz Karts:

Do away with the nut and simply cut the threaded part down to size (probably a little smaller than the quick release bracket) and you will be fine.
