No doubt good advice from SimonS at least, but all the above are seasoned racers. Do you really want to get into formal racing at this stage with all the pointless hassle and expense involved. Better imo to leave that till later if you find yourself comfortable and competitive. An open practice day at Whilton or Stretton represents far better value in a much more relaxed manner, and if you find your mates are following you then you will get all the competition you need. The difference in cost between this approach and formal racing is massive. As an aside twin engined prokarts are not cheap for anything considered competitive, quite the opposite in fact, but they are fairly easy to manage/ maintain.
