The other thing is to check the fuel lines could be slightly leaking and the fuel is seeping back into the tank, so blow down the other pipe that goes into the fuel tank next time you start it from cold.

Not a lover of not using any air filter at all as any sort of crap can make its way into the carb,I dont think not using the foam air filter can make any performance differance can it !!!!

We dont use the paper bit of the filter either.
