Remember, Octane is an additive that is used to raise the compression 'point' where the fuel will detonate (without a spark), like in a diesel. The GX160 is so low compression that the extra Octane' added to fuel is of no help at all. The compression never reaches a level where even a low Octane fuel will detonate just from compression. Thus, the added Octane 'dilutes' the petrol's effectiveness (in the Honda) even further!
