I am now a bit worried about this. My mate seemed to know what he was doing and took the plug out a few times to wipe off any swarf.

Is it worth putting a magnet in there? It has already been running briefly though?

Should the fuel switch be left on? It seems to run with it off too. I guess it would cut out when the fuel in the carb runs out?
