I know you've had the head off so are the valves actually moving as I've had people take the head off and leave the pushrods off the followers. one chap had been trying for 2 hours at the track before I took the valve cover off and popped them back on.

Pour a few drops of fuel down the plughole and see if the engine then starts for a few strokes, it should do.

You can get a plug that sparks in free air but not under compression.

It is now probably something you did while trying to find the keyway fault.
