Honda have told me the "new" coil is just a direct replacement for the existing coil, a case of Honda optimising their stock lines. They assure me it is the same in all respects, just from a different manufacturer. They say it's the same price, and that there is no reason for you to exchange one for the other. They have given me assurances that either coil will work the same, and so "old" and "new" coils will be allowed next year, on both engine types. This will be fact until someone can prove differently to me.
