hi all,

new to karting... based down south with clay pigeon, thruxton and barton stacey looking to being the local tracks.

already learnt a lot from ready thread after thread on this forum so thanks all!! just had a few unrelated questions i couldn't seem to find answers too so if anyone can help thanks in advance ;)

First i need to sort out a new pod set as mine is pretty old & damaged but not sure what is what... there seems to be various types and names but not sure if they are the correct ones. I've seen CIK 08, CIK 11, CIK 14, unico, stilo all mentioned??? are all these just different company makes and/or versions for different years? If so is a certain set required for the EKC series? I have an MSkart 2000 or 2001 chassis so would one set be more suitable than another?

Second I just wondered if I could use quick release bearing carriers on my chassis as it is a real pain when i need to remove it with current 3 fixed ones.

Is the kelgate brake system worth the money or is it best to stick with the manufacturers system for now. in my case the MS.

Also as i'm just open racing with mates for now im using 66t sprockets for clay and barton on a 20t magnum clutch and then wanting to go to 73 for thruxton. having worked out the ratio this is almost exactly the same as leaving the 66t's on and instead chaging to a 18t on the clutch. but i can't seem to find an 18t. seen them on a USA site so they exist but UK sites only seem to stock 16t, 19t ans 20t? so anyone know where i could get some as it is far easier to change the clutch than the sprockets on my chassis (even with cut sprockets). it also means i can keep the smaller 66t on so the engine can be further back with a smaller chain - unless someone can tell me a reason why not sticking with a 20t clutch is a bad thing.

also is it legal to use a UT1 piston on the K spec engine for EKC?

cheers in advance ;)
