a few thoughts...

# were you happy with the engine after assembly?
# did the conrod endcap locate easily on assembly?
# did the crank turn over easily?
# any assembly issues at all?
# give us an idea of the run in procedure (inc revs)
# What was oil like after running in?

all of this assumes a free running axle, ok brake setup, correct chain alignment and no other kart issues such as throttle stops set ok and no driver or tyre issues.

key factor for me would be 'are you hitting target revs throughout running in period'?
