lightened crank,lighter/better suited ancilliaries,optimised ignition and v/v timing, better exhaust, bigger carb and the old Gx160 will rev over 8k. The big end will fail soon after if you dont find a way of force feeding oil to it.


oh and the crankcase back pressure will become a problem too, so lots of vents/returns needed.

and a decent plate clutch is needed to transmit the extra power...

so... 'open racing' is there waiting if you are innovative.
