If the engine runs ok with fuel added directly then your jets are ok . If a pulse pump equipped engine runs out of fuel you have to pressurise the fuel system to force the fuel back up the pipes to the pump the float bowl will automatically shut the fuel off when its full . Blow down the breather tube from the fuel tank this will do the pressurising for you . Once primed with fuel the pumps will continue to do the work but without this priming all they pump is air and the carbs starve ...
