ideally you want to replicate an engine up to temp and bolted up.

fitting a torque plate at the head and a side cover attached is making a good start at pulling the bore into the shape it will be at during a run.

the torque used for all fastenings will affect the shape of the bore so plan for that when taking a block to a third party for work.
