the pumps are normally pretty good, check to see if you get fuel returning back to fuel pump when its not running.
if it does you will need a pump rebuild kit.
the other think to look for is in the actual fuel tap on the carb.
this can be striped by undoing the little bowl with a 10mm spanner and the top with a phillips.
remove the round rubber gasket with the 4 holes in it.
make sure the inlet from where the fuel pipe goes on to the opening is clear, ive had in the past these become partually blocked, normally with what looks like the fibre from a fuel filter element.
