I Doubt RPM/UFO/PKE have all spend a good quantity of money on a state of the Art dyno if they could do it whilst free reving. Its painful to watch and listern to pwoole free reving engines before thw race, something will let go and you dont wanna be stood there holding onto the hand throttle when it does and in my eyes its generally bad for the engine you are putting it through alot of stress.
Id pay to get them done as i always have, then you dont struggle down the straights and what do you gain by blowing a rod free reving other than serious expense which you could have put towards a professional rebuild!

By all means its good to see DIY builders having ago as some still enjoy this practice but id simply track test and would NEVER free rev an Engine
