If you want to go and work for the head up own ar$e brigade, F1 is the place to go. You can train a monkey to be an F1 mechanic. In the last twenty years it's turned into something that doesn't reflect all that is great in motorsport.

If you want a job in motorsport, look outside of F1. As a team member, you can't beat endurance racing (no motorsport event comes close to beating 24 hour races). The job opportunities are much wider outside of F1 and the people more receptive to volunteers. The pay is pretty much the same too.
