Computer problems - HELP!!!

My norton subscription ran out last week and i have just bought a new subscription. Ive have just tried to download the program, which it did, but when i clicked to execute the file it sort of starts up and then shuts down.

I have now also found that any program file i try to download, when i click on them to run it, it brings up an error message of corrupted file.

If anyone has any idea whatsoever please help. I need to download programs and files for my uni work
