If you are to race MSA it might be worth giving them a quick call as it might be that you can't self certify yourself.

From a race/test persepctive it is no different than any other sport/activity. Just make sure you have intake of enough carbohydrate to make sure you don't hypo during a race and keep your fluids up.

If you are well controlled you will be fine.
