In the early 1990s, I worked at Ford of Europe in Warley [just outside Brentwood], at Dunton [just outside Basildon] and at Valencia, Spain. It was my first job having graduated from university with a degree and a masters in Electronic Engineering.

I worked in the engineering systems division, specifically process control systems and CAD/CAM systems. I can give you more detail on what I did there if you like, but sufficit to say that it was a fascinating experience and one of the best places I've worked at to this day. The technology we were developing was years ahead of the mainstream and the budgets were gigantic. The social life was great as well... parties every single weekend.

Ford is a great place to begin your career out of uni because you get the kind of exposure and training that only a very large company can afford. But larger organizations also carry the burden of being politically charged and Ford is one of the world's biggest companies... so there's plenty there. I feel that you'd be well advised to move on after you've completed your graduate training programme [usually about 3 years] unless you're a political animal who enjoys that kind of stuff.

So in summary, I would highly recommend it... if they're hiring... which I imagine they probably aren't in the current economic climate.
