That makes the logical error which was (in my opinion) 'shown to be faulty' by the old Don Safety Award!

The assumption is that heavier cars ARE safer! yes... they DO do better in collisions than do lighter cars.

However, when the Lotus Elite was released, it was in line for a safety award (the Don). It was against things like the old Volvo. The Volvo had a FABULOUS 'report' of it's effects IN an accident..... but someone at Don asked the sensible question.... 'why are we seeing SO many examples of the good reults of the Volvo's safety system?'. So they went and drove some....... and THEN they KNEW why Volvos were involved in SO many accidents!

Don noted the difference between PRIMARY safety and SECONDARY safety! 'Primary' was the ability to AVOID the accident in the first place.

No... I would NOT reduce safety for efficiency. However, I would reduce LUDICROUS 'creature comforts' for efficiency! James' Elise is the series one. The series two is..... 200 KILOGRAMS heavier and it's ALL in 'creature comforts'...... that is plain STUPID! But the S2 Elise is STILL vastly lighter than most OTHER cars!
