We seem to be more involved in the other peoples disputes than our own that's for sure. So maybe we should draw our Forces back to the UK for Home Defence. If the Sleeping bear woke from Hibernation and decided it wanted a tasty snack we could be it ! My Brother in law is in Afghan at he moment, know where i wish he was.

In the US you may be responsible for and actually maintain the area outside your home ,here ,realistically it probably wouldn't happen TBH. I have enough problem trying to get my neighbour to fix his fence and he complains when my dog goes through.

Schools, aren't they similar in the States ? Some free some you pay for? I think you should be BANNED from having children until you have proved you are fit and proper !!!! You go on to say

"If you unburden the state system by putting your kid in a private school, then you'll be reimbursed... it would free up the state system "

Reimbursed in what way and by whom? The people that can afford fee's get a better education for their children and therefore ,potentially, better job /salary prospects etc etc and then get the fees reimbursed.....by the tax payer, the lowly Mr B again maybe? Isn't this a tad like the present Public school system, but we don't generally reimburse the parents YET !

We have the insurance system in place within the framework of National Insurance Contributions,Ok with a top up from Tax, the NHS is fine for the majority of people, those seeking additional insurance for "better" treatment, quicker, private rooms , better meals, etc can Opt IN to BUPA (other brands are available)thats their choice.

Regarding social housing, sorry,I mislead you. I didn't mean we should be a nation of home owner's ,was that Thatchers line?, what I meant was not everyone can afford to buy therefore we must maintain the social housing for those people.

You say about the woman next door with an 08 Astra and on benefits, call the benefits hotline, no claimant should be in such a position unless they or a relative are severely disabled and the
car is (?) Motobility (?) and not their own ,unless of course someone close was a "Dearly departed" and inherited it. If they have the funds for a new car then they can afford the rent. As for sale of the sale of Council and HA I agree ,for an example I will post another reply and show how a lot of money was lost by the local Council here.

Dole / Benefit again I agree in many things you say, but, I stand by what I said earlier it must exist for times such as the present.
Give the newly jobless a month to find a job and do any "personal admin" and then Workfare work for welfare.
I had a hip replaced last year and the other needs doing ,I was back at work in 6 weeks, I know someone who had it done and is still on Incapacity now,2 years down the line !
