It took my son's primary school bus 1 1/2 hours to make the four mile journey to school yesterday. It was absolutely grid lock round Leicestershire with heavy snow falling in the morning. So I have no regrets that we decided not to put him on the bus in the first place.

A stoical press on attitude is great but when you have extreme weather your children's safety should always be first.

You send your kids to school believing they will get home safely. When you can see for yourself that can't be guaranteed it is just common sense to keep them where you know they'll be safe.
