You MUST stop behind the white ‘Stop’ line across your side of the road unless the light is green. If the amber light appears you may go on only if you have already crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to stop might cause a collision.

if the car was so close as to hinder your car from stopping you could have a case, its a close one to call! lets face it you wernt braking the speed limit so you were within the law to an extent. bit harsh, i agree there is no bigger law breakers out there than the police themselves. sometimes lights do just change instantly especially pedestrian crossings.
