if you tax your car on line they send you a confirmation e-mail...i was told to print it off and keep it in the car with you until the tax disc arrives....proof that the car is taxed will be held on the DVLA database when the police do a check anyway.

for your insurance...i assume they will be able to give you a reference number for your policy to enable you to tax the car.
