I fully support the BBC putting on the programme...let everyone have a shout and let us, the public make our own minds up. Otherwise we have the farcical position of "starving them of the oxygen of publicity" like when IRA and Sien Fein representatives had their words overdubbed by an actor during TV appearances. Let's not go back to those times.

I dislike what Griffin stands for, because at the root of his policies are hatred and ignorance. Unfortunately the BNP are poisoning the climate for any rational discussion of such emotive subjects such as immigration, asylum seekers, muslim extremism etc. It's becoming almost impossible to debate these issues without the BNP flying the flag and coming at the subject from a position of prejudice and hatred, despite them protesting that this isn't the case. There are undoubtably problems with isolationist religious culture in this country, immigration policy and so on, but we need rational reasoned debate.

The fact the Griffin glibly said on Question Time "I haven't been CONVICTED of being a holocaust denier" just shows the political background he's come from. This makes my blood boil...I've been to the concentration camp at Dachau...it's a pretty sobering experience I can tell you, and my wife's uncle is a broken man because of being forced to work as German slave labour in Holland during the 2nd world war. People like Griffin to try and gloss over such issues which are at the roots of their politics.

Unfortunately the country has allowed way too much 'political correctness' to become part of the fabric of modern politics at local and national level by failing to properly address serious issues, and of course, the BNP approach is the flip side of the coin.
