Motorsport engineering positions are the most sought after positions, the competition is fierce for the really interesting jobs.

Unless you're sure you're going to get a 1st from a really top university, I'd get a Plan B and be sure you know what you'd like to do if motorsport doesn't work out for you. (for example do any other areas of engineering interest you? Aerospace or the general automotive industry?)
