Watch, look and SEE, Steve!
I don't do it until the other person becomes 'hostile', usually in a personal manner. I then can retaliate with something which hits (or should hit) quite hard. Just look at my discussions with JamesD. We disagree but he hasn't become personally insulating and I have developed a personal liking for the bloke. He argues well and clearly.... even if it is from a ludicrous stance! I thus had no need or wish to insult the bloke. He seems like a 'good chap' whose vioews are worthy of respect.
In contrast, look how I deal with Doink and Bod. etc.. I tailor my reply to the person and how they behave with me.
