Whether it works or not I cannot say.

I know of a car that had the bag of lead/tin pellets in the tank as described by Alanrr (i think it was).

The car did 80,000 miles running on unleaded and was still running fine at 200,000 miles when it was scrapped as the chassis was too rotten.

Of these 80,000 miles a good few were at motorway speeds and included trips to south of France.

Maybe the owners were lucky or maybe becuase it was a VW.
