Again, what was the problem with McAfee?

Well, I’ve heard this about Norton supposedly slowing PCs down. Would that really be true of the latest high performance kit running the latest Norton?
I also, quite recently, switched to 2 older PCs from Norton to the free version of AVG, along with stripping them of a lot of other software and files – down to the bare essentials for which I use them, i.e. additional file viewing screens. But I cannot say I noticed any real performance change.

Be that as it may, as long you’re running a PC with proper security software you’re doing the sensible thing on both fronts.
