Well thats a great way to get engineering back up and strong in this country making stupid comments like that.
I am a mechanical engineering graduate from 4 years ago, I have a fantastic job paying 40k (more than any graduate I know) I travel all over the world and realise how much support young engineers need in this country to compete with the worlds best. And we CAN compete with anyone as engineering is still very strong in the UK.
Back to the original question I would say Physics is essential but I would agree withe ITPRO, there is probably a reason you dont get it. especially if you can do maths.
