Test your cigarette lighter before getting it rewired. See if it will still work with the ignition 'off'. If it does, then there is no 'fitting' needed. Just buy a good solar charger.

Ł40 still sounds expensive; find a cheap autoelectrician from yellow Pages and offer him a 'drink' (Ł10 to Ł25) cash to fit the wire; it really is a DODDLE!

If you leave the car out at night, you can still use the solar charger. From here on until Autumn, you'll get light enough mornings to get some charge from the solar before you need the car! By then, you'll be deaf or will have grown out of bonkers volume anyway......! (old grumpy git slinks away........)
