Ian, I didn't say anything about rich or super-rich people. I said that the better-off would have to pay more. My definition of better-off would undoubtedly include a large proportion of the people that you describe as ordinary. Of course we don't want to scare away the wealthy, but they are here because for all its increasing failings, it's still one of the better places in the world to live, so they must expect to pay for it to stay that way. We really should re-invent the "buy british" campaign of the 70's, and put a block on non EU imports as well, to get manufacturing industry back on its feet in this country.
