Bit of a strange question but I have no idea on this. My brother's flat mate gave a months notice on leaving the property both of them were renting, and my brother wants to give his 1 month notice half way through this month, after failing to find a replacement housemate.
His letting agent has told him he cannot give the months notice now but at the time the next rent is due, and that he will be fully liable for next months rent 'as you are joint an severally liable for the rent and your house mate will have left'.
Is he being taken for a ride by the letting agent by any chance?
