Car engine help - what is this?

I have bought a 58 plate 1.2 Micra which has been in a light font end accident. I can sort most of it out but came across thing thing in the picture. I have no idea what it is. It was dangling around the front indicator and the cabling seems to come from the same loom as the radiator fan.

Any ideas what it is? Some kind of resistor?
