The driving test is wholly wrong. It tests things which have little to do with your actual safety on the road. What Itpro is saying about the "multitasking" aspect is what needs to be tested. You should simply demonstrate that you have good control of the vehicle and that you're fully aware of everything going on around you.

Just remember your days as a novice karter to ten years later. Your first day out your concentration would have been almost entirely absorbed by what the kart was doing. Eventually, what the kart is doing, where it's going, what's going on in front of you etc all become second nature and you start concentrating on specific aspects of kart behaviour. How the engine feels and sounds; is that a slight turn-in understeer etc. Moving on, that becomes second nature and eventually you get to the stage where the karting bit is automatic and it's all so easy your capacity for absorbing, processing and acting on information is massive (Itpro's Schumacher/Alonso example).

The driving test doesn't even get to the stage of ensuring you're fully aware of what's going on around you.
