You are now claiming that you DIDN'T imply that the term 'Brit' was LESS offensive then the term 'Paki'.....

Well, being capable of reading, I would say that the following words make EXACTLY the point which you seem to deny:-

"I see comments like calling someone a 'Paki' is the same as calling someone a 'Brit'. Obviously it is easy to see why this is un true"

Most of us who have the abilities to read would have noticed the implications as follows and in the following order:-

1) The use of the words 'Obviously this is untrue' might JUST imply that you DON'T think using the term 'Birt and Paki are the same. That implies that you think the term 'Brit' is not EQUALLY as offensive as the term 'Paki'.

2) It's just possible to assume the above 'denial' of 'Brit and Paki' being equally offensive as meaning that you find the term 'Brit' MORE offensive than 'Paki'. However, the whole 'gist' of your posting was that the term 'Paki' is W*O*R*S*E than the term 'Brit'.

This 'reading' of your posting is particularly clear because you use it in an 'argument' AGAINST Newshound's position. You have been suggesting that he is WRONG in making that statement. The truth is simple: you see 'Paki' as ONLY a racial slur becasue you ONLY hear people USING it as a slur. If you spoke more with Pakistanis, you'd hear THEM using it without ANY form of criticism. We have ALL heard 'Black' people (I don't know this week's PC term for this group) calling THEMSELVES the 'N' word......a word that is SO evil that we white people are NOT allowed to USE it!

Were you living in a place where the 'Brits' are HATED, you too would have heard the term 'Brit' used with all the VENOM of the KKK using the 'N' word!

That's Q.E.D., I think.

Next point:-

I think we can safely assume that there's not a court in the LAND that would NOT find the use of the word 'Brit' within 'murderous sc*m Brits' as a racial slur. I can also safely assume that a court would have no problem with another Pakistani saying 'I know they use the term Paki as an insult but I am PROUD of being Paki because the term embodies our familiy values, Hard Work, community support structures and religious values'.

The point is simple. It is FULLY acceptable for Newshound to claim that the term 'Paki' can be EQUALLY as racially-offensive as the term 'Brit'. It can also be as LIFE-AFFIRMING. It simply depends on WHO uses the term and the CONTEXT surrounding its use.

I am a VERY proud 'Brit' but I will take the racial slur as it is MEANT if an IRA supporter calls me a 'Murderous Brit'.

Thus, you are WRONG in your assumption about Newshound's comment on the terms 'Brit' and 'Paki'.

Newhound WAS correct and you are WRONG in attepting to correct him.

However, perhaps you'd like to do that thing which you CLAIMED to be 'simple to prove that is untrue'.

As I said before, DELIVER your claim and EXPLAIN how it is UNTRUE in all cases. So far, you have NOT found it as 'simple' as you claimed it was! If you don't want to attempt that, then perhaps you'll apologise to Newshound....
