Think about what you write BEFORE you write it!
The assumptions about Gladiators come from Hollywood and other media. Even HOLLYWOOD knows the assumptions are WRONG, the 'thumbs down' example is PERFECT, here! I am trying to act differently and link the discussion to EVIDENCE.... however.... it's NEVER been the point!
The point is that the TT and Gladiators are in the same BALL PARK. I do NOT need to show them to be identical!
Most of the writers here make the INSTANT assumption: Gladiators=BAD, TT=GOOD! I am trying to show that feeling smug that 'I don't approve of Gladiatoral combat' starts to slip when you compare it to the much-loved TT! I am also trying to show that if you look at the EVIDENCE about the lethality of the TT..... it really IS unacceptable!
Ask yourself if YOU would support the running of the S1 series or the London Cup or The TKM Festival, etc., if THEY had the death rate of the TT..... Just tell me that you would.....
But..... you already knew this and hoped you could distract me from the point....
Not a chance!
I always love people who come in on one side of a discussion and complain that I am being biased.... but they are not!
