QOT, there is very rarely - if ever - a single cause of an accident; an accident is a series of events that combine together, sometimes with spilt-second timing, sometimes with what appears to be just sheer bad luck to cause the unwanted event. Theorists have postulated that an accident is rather like a series of dominoes all lined up and falling onto one another, each domino being a factor and each dependent on one another - the point being that if you managed to take any one of those domino's away, the accident would not happen. The point I am making is that going too fast for the conditions can often be a contributing factor, but not a cause or at least, not on it's own anyway.
