David..... I don't want to be TOO smug but that pretty well describes one half of what I was saying. The only difference is that the fuel being delivered is passing via the cylinders whereas, I suspect, I could do it byepassing the cylinders altogether..... and byepasing the spark plugs, too! 'My' design was akin to after burners in jets.
What it ISN'T is the 'cold blown' diffusers with simple 'cold' air passing through the engine as YOU suggested!
None of that article discusses the purported 'de-clutched' running of the engines to deliver KERS charge but that was NOT the point of that article.
