i thought id given an analogy, even if a bit extreme.

partly, as his only option was to make the change.

the luck was that the safety car allowed him to catch up

i think we have all seen or heard of drivers starting on wets even on a dry track when it looks like it could rain. if it pays off they seem to be hailed as forward thinking and able to make the right calls. when it fails, little fuss is made
