This is only speculation but when they did the CPR in the medical centre maybe that got mis-reported as being concious?
As for Colin, there was a point when he looked over, and some have read into that he saw no chance of survival. I hate to think about it, but the force to knock a crash helmet off is going to do major damage where the strap is involved. I do wonder if Marco's trademark sideshow Bob hair didnt help with the fit of the helmet. But at the end of the day these accidents are pretty unsurvivable as we have seen in recent years with Craig Jones, Shoya and now poor Marco. All three massive talents.
