I'm not sure about 7.5 tonners...

But The driver CPC has been needed for new HGV drivers since 2008, however if you already hold a licence to drive an HGV, you are given "GRANDFATHER" rights for 5 years. After the 5 year period you must have done 35 hours of Driver CPC training. After that you must gain 35 hours training every 5 years.

It SUCKS! More money I have to spend to keep my livelihood.... I wouldn't mind so much if the EU didnt keep moving the goal posts and changing the rules and regs of tachograph law.... It is quite possible that some thing you learnt a year ago is out of date!!!! worst of all they have no obligation to let you know, its up to you to find out!!!!
OK RANT OVER!!!

Courses can be on many things.... ive just done one on digital Tachographs, but they can be on almost any aspect of trucks.... if you buy a new Mercedes Actros truck.... Mercedes will give you a detailed Handover of the truck and this counts towards your Driver CPC hous!...

HOWEVER..... I do beleve that a HGV used for Karting would not fall in to Scope. There are some exemptions for driver CPC.

1. A vehicle with a maximum authorised speed not exceeding 45 km/h;

2. A vehicle used by, or under the control of, the armed forces, a police force, a fire and rescue authority;

3. A vehicle undergoing road tests for technical development, repair or maintenance purposes, or of new or rebuilt Vehicles which have not yet been put into service;

4. A vehicle used in a state of emergency or assigned to a rescue mission;

5. A vehicle used in the course of driving lessons for the purpose of enabling that person to obtain a driving licence or a CPC;

6. A vehicle used for non-commercial carriage of passengers or goods for personal use.... EG Karting

7. A vehicle carrying material or equipment to be used by that person in the course of his or her work, provided that driving that vehicle is not that persons principal activity.... EG: a scaffolding erecter uses a truck to take the scaffolding to a site but driving isn't the principle activity erecting scaffolding is!
