As I've said elsewhere, it is the drivers prerogative, if quick enough to unlap himself, to be able to do so. Are we suggesting that if you go a lap down you should retire?! Yes, he could've handled it better, but if the safety car had come out later that lap he'd have been back in the hunt.

I'd have gone with Vettel for doughnut of the day, his temper tantrum at Hamilton and his ridiculous move on Button combined outweighed one move by Hamilton.
