there's two main things i know about:

LCD used pixels, after a time u will loose pixels, once there gone you can't get them back, but LCD has the 100hz thing which means if your watching racing the cars don't "judder" because of how fast there going across the screen and it looks a lot better,

Plasma uses gas, so after time when it's wearing out, you can just have it "re-gassed" for i think it was around £50 but plasma doesn't have the 100hz to reduce the judder.

But no matter what you get - when you first plug it in and watch they look absolutely massive!! (and i've only got a 42in)
