Try comparing them to 5 years ago, 10 years, and 20 years ago. Current A level Maths was about O-Level (old name for gcse's) standard, if my memory of doing older papers serves me right.

Wait until you get to Uni and they feel the need to bring you up to speed on maths (if you're doing an engineering subject).

Mmm matrices, Laplace transforms, equation derivation!
