Only if they have a skillset that is of value in a range of other industries. What skills does an MP need to have that would make them a commodity in demand in other industries? What type of people would be attracted were MP's salaries to be increased (excluding the chancers you get in any industry)? It is my experience that those that demand high salaries are usually least capable of doing anything useful whilst those that make money as an employer are more useful, but vastly too expensive.
This discussion could easily drift away from MP's pay and expenses and into one of the value of people's work.
