CJM, as previous posters have mentioned, the claim is relatively straightforward with regards to the damage to property, not so straightforward with an injury though. You may need to bide your time as you do not know yet if you will have any long-term problems which you should seek compensation for. What I will say is that there is a national database with guidelines for compensation payouts on personal injury claims so whoever you go with, whether that be the insurance company or a claims company, the payout will be the same. What happens with the claims solicitors is that their fees are added to the claim which is paid for by the insurance companies. Hope this helps
