As, I said, only starting with a clean sheet. if you leave out all the National Front history and rhetoric from their opponents.

As is often pointed out, there are a multitude of races in most of us now. Being British isn't about race & colour any more. It's about accepting the British way of life, it's traditions and core values of democracy and freedom. Taken at face value it seems that even the BNP have started to accept the inevitability of this.

This being the case it doesn't stop anybody British of whatever race or colour wanting to stem the influx of immigrants who don't hold those same ideals.

One of problems I have with immigration are the principles of Nature set against nurture in upbringing and education. I have I think a clearer perspective on this than most, I see that even our nearest neighbours, the French, are actually quite different. Apart from language and religion, they have different values and morals, both in private and political life. Culturally we should be quite close, but in fact there is a huge gap, not because our genetic make up is any different but because we were brought up differently.

Set this against other vastly different cultures landing up in the UK in wave after wave and you can clearly see where the problems start. Many of these people come from countries where life is cheap and human rights don't exist, this is how they were brought up and although our core values will usually rub off in time, this is not always the case.
